Pauli crystal melting in shaken optical traps

Pauli crystals are ordered geometric structures that emerge in trapped noninteracting fermionic systems due to their underlying repulsion. The deformation of - often called melting has been recently observed experiments, but the mechanism leads it remains unclear. We address this question by studying dynamics N=6 fermions as a function periodic driving and experimental imperfections trap (anisotropy anharmonicity) employing combination numerical simulations Floquet theory. Surprisingly, we reveal is not simply direct consequence an increase system energy, instead related geometry population modes. show absent traps without triggered only sufficiently large shaking amplitude with imperfections.
